Welcome to Elmendorph Handspinners Guild
The Elmendorph Handspinners Guild is a dynamic and inclusive community deeply committed to preserving and promoting the art of spinning fiber into yarn and all things related to the fiber arts. This diversity of skills and interests within the Guild creates a welcoming space where members of all levels—from beginners to seasoned artisans—can grow and develop their craft. Whether it’s perfecting the art of spinning, experimenting with natural dyes, creating intricate woven patterns, or bringing fiber to life through knitting and felting, the Guild offers a space for members to explore every aspect of the craft.
Through its workshops, classes, demonstrations, and collaborative projects, the Elmendorph Handspinners Guild not only keeps the traditions of spinning fiber by hand and all of the fiber arts alive but also adapts them to the modern world, ensuring that these ancient crafts continue to thrive for generations to come.
The Elmendorph Handspinners Guild, founded by a group of five hand spinners, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022, marking over three decades of preserving and promoting the textile arts. Today, the Guild is thriving with a membership of 80 passionate individuals. All of this takes place in its unique meeting home at the Elmendorph Inn in Red Hook, NY, nestled in the heart of the picturesque Hudson Valley. The Inn’s historic charm provides a welcoming space for new and old members to gather, learn, and create.
Come join one of our workdays at the Elmendorph Inn! The door is always open, and all are welcome.
We meet the third Friday evening of the month at 7 p.m. on Zoom, and the third Saturday of the month for workshops from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the historic Elmendorph Inn in Red Hook, New York.
